Step 1: Complete Beach Party Permit application form, online at https://southbethany.delaware.gov/forms/beach-party-permit-revised-8-9-…. A $50 deposit and the signature of a South Bethany resident are required. Submit application and deposit to Town of South Bethany, 402 Evergreen Road, South Bethany, DE 19930.

Step 2: Obtain Sussex County marriage license www.sussexcountyde.gov/applying-marriage-license *

*Note: The marriage license is valid for 30 days, based on time of application. It must be used in that time period. It is only valid in the State of Delaware. The waiting period is 24 hours (based on time of application) for all applicants.

Rules:

  1. Beach party permits are limited to an area no closer than 75 feet to any dwelling or any sand dune.
  2. Events must end by 11 p.m.
  3. Events are restricted to 30 or fewer participants.
  4. No glass containers.
  5. No fires.
  6. No fireworks.
  7. No littering.
  8. No vehicles.

Parking:

Parking permits are required May 15 to Sept. 15 where posted. If the wedding is held during the time when parking permits are required, couples will need to contact the South Bethany Police Department and coordinate all parking issues. Only 10 parking permit passes will be issued for any beach party/special event. Parking passes will only be issued for the day of the event and will be limited to two hours. If additional parking time is required for the event, Town of South Bethany daily passes will have to be purchased at a cost of $20 each. Daily passes can be purchased during the week from Town Hall or on weekends from the South Bethany Police Department. Motorists are reminded to park on the right side of the road, off of the roadway as far as possible. Be careful not to block driveways.
