When your guests receive their invitation, it will be their first taste of your wedding aesthetic. This is the perfect time to tie your theme and colors together in a way that reflects you as a couple. Local artist Katy Ackerman, owner of Lewes Lettering Co., is known worldwide for her custom luxury wedding invitations and stationery featuring hand-created calligraphy. Katy gave us the rundown of everything trending this year for wedding paper goods, and what you need to know in order to create your perfect invitation suite.

A full invitation suite includes five pieces—the invitation and its outer envelope, details, the rsvp card and a return envelope. Popular paper choices are mostly matte, occasional shimmer, and letterpress on matte cotton. Favorite embellishments include curated vintage stamps, envelope liners, and edge painting.

Many couples opt to include additional “day-of” paper goods, such as menus, ceremony programs, and escort cards that tie everything together with the small details.

Because you’ll need them anyways, do consider seating chart options, table numbers, napkins, and signage in general.

Trending this year, you’ll find custom watercolors echoed in venue images, belly bands, and crests with flowers that are reflected in envelope liners. Look to include textures like metallic embossing, printed vellum, velvet liners and ribbons, and custom wax seals.

To work with Katy on your own wedding invitations, reach out at least 6-10 months before your wedding—12 if you want to include save-the dates. Visit LewesLetteringCo.com or call (302) 703-7035 for more information.
